This being the first commission showing Hara with one of my favorite Genshin Impact characters makes this art extra special for me. It’s almost September, and I’m trying my best to find an artist who can work on a commission with me for Hara and Neuvillette. When I saw Lei’s artworks in an FB art group stating that she has commissions open, I went ahead and checked her Instagram - and man, the way she drew the Genshin Impact characters is just flawless. At the last minute, I decided to switch gears and go with Il Capitano instead of Neuvillette - and I’m so glad I did.
The title, ‘Suspension of Disbelief,’ came from a conversation with the Content Creator after we watched Miss Saigon. I couldn’t understand why Kim, the lead character, just accepted her fate in such a grim situation, and when I voiced it out, the Content Creator said, ‘Suspension of disbelief!’ It kinda stuck with me, and when I was brainstorming titles for the commission, I thought that it was perfect - especially since Capitano is such a mystery. All we really know about him comes from his brief appearance in ‘A Winter Night’s Lazzo’ back in 2022 (Oh my God, that was 2022? What the…) and a few references from other characters. There’s something about his sense of integrity and fair play that I really admire - and let’s be real, I have a weakness for tall, commanding characters with incredible voices (Chris Tergliafera nailed it!).
Pairing him with Hara felt natural - her red hair is such a good contrast with Capitano’s dark aesthetic, and they both just clicked. When Lei delivered the final piece, I was blown away. The perspective, the atmosphere, and the way it tied back to the title were just perfect. It reminded me that it’s okay to geek out over fictional characters sometimes and to let yourself enjoy those moments, even if they’re just for fun.

Itto is one of my Genshin ‘husbandos’, and one of the first five star characters that I pulled from ‘gacha’ (LOL, don’t ask about my luck - it sucked EXCEPT for Neuvillette). I absolutely adore his goofy, over-the-top attitude - I feel like he’s someone who can be my friend in real life, and I will never be bored when we’re together. Sure, he talks way too much, and he’s kind of an idiot, but there’s something ridiculously charming about him that I can’t explain. Max Mittelman (English VA) did such an amazing job bringing his character to life. I still laugh whenever I remember the time when his banner came out, and I rolled for both him and his weapon. My sister doesn’t like his character at all and she told me that he’s not a very ‘husband material’ because he’s like a ‘child’ and he doesn’t have a stable job. I think the funniest thing is how my jaw dropped when I saw his birthday - Itto’s birthday is June 1st. Heh.
Of course - this commission is reserved for Lei. Lei’s previous Itto arts caught my eye while I was scrolling through her Instagram, so she was my obvious choice. I was thinking on a theme for his commission - and it was around mid October when I thought maybe he’ll be perfect for Halloween. And as always, Lei worked on the art amazingly. I asked her to make Hara wear a kitsune costume, and it was endearing seeing them both, as if posing for a Halloween photo.
